Meet Lisa a veterinary technician who joined our team in 2023. Back in 2001, she embarked on her professional odyssey at what was then known as Ravenna Park Animal Hospital (now simply Ravenna Animal Hospital), under the esteemed guidance SVA co-founder Dr. Donald Canfield. Lisa’s educational journey began at the University of Washington, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Lisa went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Northern Arizona University. This diverse academic background has equipped her with a well-rounded understanding of both the scientific and communication aspects of veterinary care.
In 2007, Lisa obtained her technician license, marking the beginning of her professional journey in the field. Lisa’s lifelong affinity for animals is evident in numerous family photos, which showcase her younger self alongside various furry companions, often whatever wandering cat she discovered. Lisa says it is the challenges cats present that make her particularly enjoy feline care. Over the years she has developed a keen interest in rehabilitation and massage therapy for animals. Recognizing the immense benefits these modalities offer, she is currently pursuing her animal massage licensure and is eager to expand her skill set to provide innovative care.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Lisa’s adventurous spirit shines through. One particular anecdote stands out: during a playful attempt to surprise her mother, she accidentally locked herself in the trunk of a car. Although it didn’t quite go as planned, this experience showcases Lisa’s willingness to embrace new challenges with a positive and resilient attitude.
In Lisa’s personal life, she shares her home with a small zoo: Suka, her loyal canine companion, Hopey Dude, the feline love of her life, and Bella, a boisterous umbrella cockatoo whose vibrant personality brightens her days. Not to forget, Lisa hints at the presence of a mischievous pair of nudist cats who add an extra dash of excitement to her household.
